🤔 My Thoughts
My Sneaky Bitcoin Play—No Wallet Required
A low-cost MSTR trade
Yesterday’s Profit Panel took a left turn into crypto without touching a single coin.
When the ticker for MicroStrategy (MSTR) flashed, I flagged it on air:
“I want to come back to this MSTR trade. I think this could be a good little debit spread to set up.”
Here’s why I’m leaning that way — and why the blueprint comes straight from one of the sharpest option traders ever to hit the CBOE floor.
Enter Tony Saliba
For those who are unfamiliar, Tony Saliba’s a famous trader who reportedly strung together 70 consecutive months of profits over $100,000 per month — and survived the 1987 crash with a positive month. He wrote the playbook most pros still keep on the shelf.
Any time I asked him for his “go-to,” he’d shrug and remind me that his favorite strategy was a debit spread.
The Setup (Plain English Version)
- What we’re buying: an at-the-money call on MSTR.
- What we’re selling: a higher-strike call, same expiration.
- Why it’s smart money: the purchased call gives us upside if Bitcoin keeps grinding higher; the sold call pays for part of that ticket and caps risk to the upfront debit—usually a few bucks instead of thousands.
Think of it like buying a pair of concert tickets, then immediately reselling one for a bit of profit.
You still hold your seat, and the extra cash you collected from selling the second ticket covers a big chunk of your total outlay.
If Bitcoin rips, MSTR often tags along. If crypto chills out, your loss is limited to the small debit, not the price of a the single at-the-money option.
Key Levels I’m Watching
- Entry zone: anywhere under last week’s MSTR high.
- Target: resistance near $410 maybe as low as $404
- Expiration: 30–45 days gives enough time for a Bitcoin headline to light the fuse without overpaying for time.
